LSU and head coach Ed Orgeron earned national championship rings with a 42-25 victory against Clemson on Monday. Orgeron also earned a fat bonus check.

For winning the national title and LSU’s various other accomplishments this past season, Orgeron earned a $1.775 million bonus, which was $600,000 more than any other coach’s bonus in college football this season. Based on the tracking at USA Today Sports, it’s also the greatest single-season bonus rewarded to a college football coach ever.

Orgeron might not be done either. He can still earn another $200,000 if his players perform well academically.

Monday’s loser, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, didn’t do too poorly himself, as USA Today Sports reports he made a $600,000 bonus this season.

Other than Orgeron, Oregon’s Mario Cristobal was the only other coach with a bonus greater than $1 million ($1.175 million). Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham earned bonuses of $775,000 and $621,667, respectively.

According to USA Today Sports, college football head coaches raked in $11.4 million in bonuses this season, and that doesn’t include the millions more that assistant coaches across the FBS made.

Check out what every FBS head coach’s bonus at USA Today Sports.
