LSU’s quarterback situation continues to evolve, and this week coach Ed Orgeron said starter Myles Brennan will be out this week against Alabama, and there are discussions about possibly shutting him down for the season.
True freshmen TJ Finley or Max Johnson will get the starting nod, but Orgeron said he couldn’t comment if both are available, but said, “we are very thin at that position.” Orgeron also said they have considered moving another player to quarterback this week. Orgeron wouldn’t “give away the game plan” when asked for specifics on another player, such as punter Zach Von Rosenberg being inserted.
Last week, Orgeron said Brennan tried to practice, but couldn’t finish.
“What’s best for Myles, the doctors and them are talking now, seeing what’s the best for him,” Orgeron said. “Whether it’s getting it fixed, getting it operated now, or wait. I think we’re still discussing that.”
Orgeron wouldn’t reveal a game plan about how he’s approaching the QB.
“We may have to put someone else at quarterback, we have a plan in place,” Orgeron said.
Brennan suffered a significant lower body injury at Missouri, which kept him sidelined for both the win over South Carolina and loss to Auburn.
It’s been about a month since the Missouri game on Oct. 10, and the Tigers have had effectively two off weeks because of the Florida postponement and last week’s already scheduled bye week.
