About an hour after the SEC announced that the Georgia-Missouri game would be called off this week, Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz updated the COVID-19 situation with the Tigers.

“We are below the threshold at a position,” Drinkwitz said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “We have been transparent with our numbers. we test every 3 days and we have new issues every 3 days. the plan is to do what we can to play at SC but to answer 10 days out, with this pandemic, is too far unknown but we should have guys back to play.”

Drinkwitz added that Missouri had a new positive test today which is why the SEC postponed the game.

The players suspended from the Florida game did not factor into the decision about this week’s Georgia game.

Also on the call, Drinkwitz praised the leadership of SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

“We’ve led the country in standards and protocols,” Drinkwitz said. “We’ve been tremendous. I think every time I shake a coach’s hand, we talk about how fortunate and excited we are to play.”

Missouri is scheduled to return to action next week against South Carolina.
