Eli Manning discusses his favorite Egg Bowl memory from playing days at Ole Miss

The Egg Bowl is one of the best rivalries in the SEC.
Hundreds of great players have taken the field to duke it out over the years in a series that dates back to 1901. Ole Miss leads the series over Mississippi State, 64-54-1 all-time.
Former Rebels QB Eli Manning joined Greg McElroy on Always College Football Tuesday morning to discuss his favorite Egg Bowl moment from his playing days at Ole Miss. Manning is 2-1 in games he started against the Bulldogs, but one game stuck out.
“My junior year,” Manning said. “I was kind of banged up, I had hurt my elbow the week before, it’s always cold. Hit Chris Collins on a slant, he took it about 80 yards and afterwards you had my parents and family there, go back to their little spot and eat Thanksgiving dinner with now my wife, my mom my parents, I’m sure Coop(er Manning) was there so that was a good Thanksgiving to get a win, throw a touchdown, eat some turkey and be with family.”
His best game, on paper at least, was actually the following year. Manning threw for 260 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his Senior year against the Bulldogs, winning 31-0.
The game Manning is referring to was much closer. Ole Miss came out on top, 24-12 with Manning throwing for 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the day.
This year’s iteration of the Egg Bowl should be a good one. Ole Miss-Mississippi State kicks off on Thanksgiving at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.
