The No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels are getting ready to hit the road and take on the Vanderbilt Commodores this Saturday in Nashville, but a massive meeting with the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns looms ahead in a couple of weeks.
In what has potential to be the game of the year in the SEC, star Texas quarterback Arch Manning will face off against the program that both his grandfather and namesake Archie, and Super Bowl-winning uncle Eli both played at during their college years.
As it so happens, Eli was recently asked about the looming showdown between his alma mater and his nephew on Pardon My Take, and On3 reported on X that the Ole Miss legend made a surprising revelation about who he will be rooting for during that high-profile showdown.

“I root for Ole Miss to win every other game probably besides that one,” Manning told the folks on Pardon My Take.
This will come as a massive shock to just about everybody in Oxford, as Eli is arguably the biggest star to ever come out of the program. He followed in his dad’s footsteps and played for the Rebels from 2000-2003. He took over the starting role as a sophomore and put together 3 elite seasons, capped off by a senior campaign in 2003 that saw him earn SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Maxwell Award, and Second-Team All-American honors while also finishing third in Heisman voting.
Eli may have strong ties to the Ole Miss program, but it looks like blood ties run deeper for him when it comes to cheering on his nephew.
