Epic failure: Oklahoma banner gets twisted during pregame intro vs. Texas
It was an epic failure before Oklahoma‘s actual team even had a chance to fail.
The Sooners have had a rough start to the 2026 season, losing 2 games before September even ended. But the calamity that’s ensued in Norman was at least on the field, where the players play and either succeed or don’t.
This time, on the grand stage of the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl, with a national TV audience watching on ABC, the Oklahoma football mishap had nothing to do with penalties or interceptions and everything to do with the “Play Like A Champion” banner that was meant to greet the Sooner players as they ran onto the field to take on top-ranked Texas on Saturday afternoon.
The banner was there. But the problem was, it was all twisted and couldn’t get straightened out as the players nearly crashed into it and tried to slap the banner that wasn’t right to begin with.
It actually could’ve been worse, but it was pretty bad, just like Oklahoma’s season so far that started off with such grand expectations.
