ESPN analyst makes bold claim regarding Garrett Nussmeier’s draft stock
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will be hoping to improve his draft stock at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., this week.
Ahead of the event, ESPN held a roundtable discussion with multiple NFL Draft analysts. Asked for a prediction about Senior Bowl quarterbacks, ESPN’s Jordan Reid said he expects Nussmeier to have a big week.
Specifically, Reid said he believes Nussmeier will improve his current draft stock — which currently ranges from the third to the sixth round, per Reid. Here’s his analysis:
LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier will be the most impressive passer this week because his anticipation and accuracy will shine in this setting. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Nussmeier has a daredevil mentality and isn’t shy about throwing into tight windows over the middle of the field or outside the numbers. His experience with altering protections at the line of scrimmage will also stand out. After a disappointing, injury-plagued season, Nussmeier will be looking to recapture the early-round buzz he had entering 2025. In speaking to scouts over the past few weeks, the highest projection I’ve heard is Round 3, but others had Round 5 or 6 grades on him. I think Nussmeier will improve on those this week.
Nussmeier entered the 2025 campaign as a preseason contender to go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, but had a dreadful final season at LSU. Nussmeier battled injuries all year long and regressed statistically from his breakout 2024 campaign.
Now out of collegiate eligibility, Nussmeier is hoping to have a strong start to his pro career.
