ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of FBS after a Week 6 that featured multiple big upsets.
There’s some disagreement among ESPN analysts on where LSU is projected to play this postseason.
Mark Schlabach has the Tigers taking on Oklahoma in a CFP first round game, while Kyle Bonagura has them taking on Florida State in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
LSU was off in Week 6 after suffering its first loss of the season against Ole Miss in Week 5. The Tigers will be back in action hosting South Carolina in Week 7.
The Tigers have been much better on defense than expected, but the offense hasn’t lived up to its off-season hype. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was looked at as a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate, but he has been inconsistent. Coach Brian Kelly said earlier in the season that he has been dealing with some injuries, and the bye week may just be what Nussmeier needed to get things going.
The Tigers are in complete control of their own destiny when it comes to the SEC as well as the CFP. There are still tough games remaining on the schedule with Vanderbilt, Alabama, Texas A&M and Oklahoma still to come.
