ESPN and ABC will be on the broadcast for two of the four first round games in the College Football Playoff. The network got the first two games of the first-round weekend, starting with a rematch between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Oklahoma won the first matchup in Tuscaloosa in mid-November when the Sooners knocked off the Crimson Tide, 23-21.
With the rematch scheduled for Dec. 19, ESPN announced that it would be sending its top broadcasting crew with Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbsreit, Holly Rowe and Laura Rutledge.
The Crimson Tide were squarely on the bubble after losing 28-7 against Georgia in the SEC Championship game on Saturday night. The loss to the Sooners at home was a huge reason why they were in that spot, and it started a rough last four games for Alabama.
After a 7-1 start, the Crimson Tide finished 2-2 to end the season, and even one of their wins was a very difficult win against a 5-win Auburn team.
This broadcast crew has seen the Crimson Tide at their best this year, as they were on the call for Alabama’s win at Georgia early in the season. For the Crimson Tide, they will look to show that type of magic against the Sooners in Norman on Dec. 19.
