ESPN is making more changes to its SEC and college football programming.
Hours after announcing the new show “Thinking Out Loud” on the SEC Network, the World Wide Leader announced that “The Paul Finebaum Show” is getting an extra hour that will be shown exclusively on ESPN2 during football season (August through the end of December).
Starting on Aug. 16, from 2-3 p.m. ET Monday-Friday, “The Paul Finebaum Show” will be shown in a TV-only hour on ESPN2 through the end of December. From 3-7 p.m. ET Monday-Friday, the radio show will continued to be broadcast on the SEC Network. The Friday edition of the show will be broadcast from the site of Saturday’s “SEC Nation” on the SEC Network, which features Finebaum as an analyst.
“With the addition of The Paul Finebaum Show to the ESPN2 afternoon lineup, we are super-serving college football fans hungry for discussion and analysis about their favorite teams,” said Burke Magnus, executive vice president, programming and scheduling said in a media release. “Paul’s distinctive interview style and ability to tap into the passion of real college football fans will undoubtedly translate into a new must-see hour of original programming on ESPN2 this fall.”
The show, which has been broadcast on the SEC Network since August 2014, will now give fans 25 hours a week to talk about college football with the longtime analyst and radio host during the season.
“The great actress, Mae West, once said, “Too much of a good thing can be wonderful.’’ That’s how we feel about adding an extra hour of the show,” Finebaum said. “Simply put, 20 hours wasn’t enough. Seriously, we are delighted to add an additional hour a day this fall to provide college football fans just a little more time to devour the sport.’’
