Before Lane Kiffin makes his return to Ole Miss on September 19, the LSU head coach will kick off the latest chapter of his career against Clemson on September 5. Not only will it get the College GameDay treatment, but it will be a primetime game.
Per an ESPN release on Tuesday, LSU vs. Clemson will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
This is the second half of a home-and-home series between the two programs. On August 30, LSU opened the 2025 season with a 17-10 win, a sign of things to come for Clemson โ a preseason Top 5 team โ as it played to a disappointing 7-6 record. Meanwhile, LSU started the season 4-0 and reached as high as No. 3 before losing three of its next four, including a 49-25 loss to Texas A&M on October 25 that ultimately cost Brian Kelly his job.
Now, the spotlight will shine on Kiffin as he looks to lead LSU to the College Football Playoff for the first time since the 2019 season. Considering Kelly was fired despite winning 34 of his 48 games as head coach โ albeit without a Playoff appearance โ to say that Kiffin is facing massive pressure to take the program back there, considering what he did at Ole Miss, is an understatement.
