ESPN announces ratings for College GameDay Week 4 episode ahead of Tennessee-Texas

Top-ranked Texas left Tennessee with a 20-17 win and its perfect record intact. After an open week, the Longhorns will be favored in Week 6 as they head to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry against struggling Oklahoma. Meanwhile, the Volunteers look to avoid dropping to 0-2 in SEC play as they welcome Auburn to Neyland Stadium.
Ahead of the game, College GameDay was stationed in Knoxville for the 13th time. And, as usual, the ESPN pregame show drew large audiences. In fact, it drew the show’s highest-ever ratings for a Week 4 episode, with an average of 2.8 million viewers. The show’s final hour brought in 3.7 million viewers. All told, it is not only the most-watched Week 4 episode, but the fourth-highest-rated regular-season episode in the show’s history.
Week 5 will be different from previous College GameDay episodes this season: it will be the first time that the show originates from a non-SEC venue. It will travel to Iowa City ahead of Iowa’s game against Ohio State in a battle of 4-0 teams. College GameDay has only been to Iowa City twice. Its last trip there was in 2006, when Ohio State defeated Iowa 38-17. It was also there in 1996, when the Buckeyes defeated the Hawkeyes 38-26.
