ESPN college football analyst Heather Dinich has released her projected College Football Playoff after a Week 2 that didn’t see a lot of playoff-type matchups. Many of the top teams in the country played inferior opponents, and there were some dominating performances by the top teams.

The biggest game of the weekend was Michigan and Oklahoma, as the Sooners won the lone top-25 matchup from the weekend, 24-13.

With the results in, here is a look at what Dinich thinks are the top 12 teams in the CFP.

  1. Ohio State
  2. Miami
  3. LSU
  4. Florida State
  5. Oregon
  6. Penn State
  7. Tennessee
  8. Georgia
  9. Texas
  10. Notre Dame
  11. Illinois
  12. Oklahoma

There are definitely some surprises on this list, as Miami and Florida State are higher on that list than they are in the polls. Both of these teams got big wins in Week 1, and then followed those up with dominating victories in Week 2.

It was a historic game for the Seminoles, as the 77 points they scored were the second most of all-time. They finished with 729 yards of offense, and Tommy Castanellos currently looks like a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender.

The Sooners’ win against Michigan could arguably be the most important of the Brent Venables era. The Sooners last year struggled on offense for much of the season, but they look different with John Mateer playing quarterback.
