Week 0 is officially in the books, and that means ESPN’s FPI rankings got an update following Saturday’s results. UNLV was a big loser, as Dan Mullen’s squad dropped 12 spots in the Football Power Index after barely beating FCS Idaho State.
Some of the other Saturday results, including Kansas State losing to Iowa State in Dublin, led to some reshuffling in the FPI rankings. That led to some SEC squads moving up and down as a result.
The top 3 teams are still Texas, Georgia and Alabama. That didn’t change. But some of the lower-ranked SEC teams got bumped up or down a couple of spots as a result of the Week 0 action.
Here’s a look at where every SEC football team stands in ESPN’s updated FPI rankings as we officially turn the page to Week 1:
- No. 1 — Texas Longhorns
- No. 2 — Georgia Bulldogs
- No. 3 — Alabama Crimson Tide
- No. 8 — Tennessee Volunteers
- No. 9 — Texas A&M Aggies
- No. 10 — Ole Miss Rebels
- No. 11 — South Carolina Gamecocks
- No. 12 — LSU Tigers
- No. 13 — Florida Gators
- No. 19 — Oklahoma Sooners
- No. 20 — Auburn Tigers
- No. 23 — Mizzou Tigers
- No. 27 — Arkansas Razorbacks
- No. 43 — Kentucky Wildcats
- No. 49 — Vanderbilt Commodores
- No. 53 — Mississippi State Bulldogs
Oklahoma and Auburn both jumped over Kansas State as a result of the Wildcats’ loss to Iowa State. Mississippi State leapfrogged UNLV as a result of the Rebels’ disastrous showing against Idaho State.
Following Week 1, there’s sure to be much more change in the FPI rankings, so check back in next Sunday to see how things change around the SEC.
