ESPN has some marquee SEC games this weekend, and they are rematches from some great games last year. Alabama and Georgia is the prime time game, but the matchup between LSU and Ole Miss is a rematch of an overtime thriller from last year that the Tigers won.
It was a big game last year, and it is equally as big of game this season. During a Thursday morning segment of Get Up, Josh Pate, Taylor Lewan and Will Compton made their picks for the game.
Pate and Compton are going with the Rebels in this game, because of an Ole Miss offense that is a high-powered offensive attack. Lewan is going with the Tigers because of Harold Perkins and that LSU defense.
Austin Simmons was the quarterback to start the season, but an injury forced Trinidad Chambliss to step into the role. Not only has he been good enough to keep the team afloat, but he has also taken this offense to another level. In the two games he has started, he has thrown for 660 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed for another 174 yards and two more touchdowns.
LSU has proven to be a national title contender this season, but it has been because of an improved defense. The Tigers have struggled on defense the last two years, but now they look like the best team in the country.
The offense was supposed to be a juggernaut, but quarterback Garrett Nussmeier hasn’t been able to play at that level yet. The winner of this game is in great position moving forward in both the SEC, as well as College Football Playoff.
