It’s been an few months across the SEC, but there’s one team that stands out as having the best offseason ahead of the 2025 campaign.
On Tuesday morning, ESPN published a story ranking offseasons for each power-conference team. In the SEC, LSU got the nod over programs like Oklahoma, Auburn and Texas.
Brian Kelly was able to retain quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, which is a big reason why the Tigers ended up with the No. 1 spot. LSU also brought in a talented class of transfers on both sides of the ball. Here’s some analysis from ESPN’s Bill Connelly:
Kelly retained one of the most proven quarterbacks in the SEC and brought in the most celebrated transfer class in the league as well. One might have suggested bringing in another O-lineman or two, but it sure seems like the Tigers enjoyed the best offseason this side of Norman.
Despite losing multiple top-50 picks in Will Campbell and Mason Taylor, LSU seems to be in position to compete for a College Football Playoff berth in 2025. The Tigers have yet to reach that stage since Kelly took over in Baton Rouge.
