ESPN nixes BottomLine ticker for CFB regular season games, per report

College football has finally almost returned after a long season full of intrigue, and ESPN will once again be the home of some of the sport’s biggest matchups every week.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports has become the gold standard of college football broadcasting over the years, but it appears to be making a significant change in 2026.
According to Front Office Sports reporter Ryan Glasspiegel, ESPN has reportedly decided to get rid of its iconic BottomLine ticker for all regular-season games starting this season.
The BottomLine, which scrolls across the bottom of the screen giving live updates from other games and breaking news, has been a staple of ESPN live broadcasts since 1995.
Per Glasspiegel, the network already axed the ticker during last season’s College Football Playoff broadcasts, and it looks like that decision has now been expanded to include all college football games.
It will certainly be strange to watch a game on ESPN and not see scoring updates at the bottom of the screen, but it’s a reality that fans across the country will have to adapt to starting this season.
