ESPN poses one lingering question for Georgia football in 2026

Just over a month ago, ESPN listed its top 25 for the upcoming 2026 college football season. A total of 8 SEC teams made the list, led by Georgia at No. 3 and Texas at No. 5.
Yesterday morning, ESPN revealed one lingering question for each team in its top 25, including the Bulldogs. ESPN defined each lingering question as one that “will have to be addressed before the season or could help determine the course of the 2026 campaign.”
Georgia’s lingering question is as follows: Will the receiving corps be up to the task?
It’s definitely a fair question. Zachariah Branch is off to the NFL, as is 6-foot-5 vertical threat Colbie Young. Dillon Bell, Oscar Delp and Noah Thomas — who combined for just under 800 receiving yards last season — are all currently on NFL rosters as well.
The top receiver for the Bulldogs is expected to be Georgia Tech wide receiver Isaiah Canion, who transferred in after totaling 33 receptions for 480 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2025. London Humphreys is set for an expanded role. As is Talyn Taylor, who is entering Year 2 in Athens after collecting a pair of receptions for 28 yards as a freshman.
Don’t forget about tight end Lawson Luckie, either. In Part 1 of my series on SEC players to circle for the 2026 season, I mentioned Luckie as one of Georgia’s 2 returning players to keep an eye on for his abilities as a red-zone target. QB Gunner Stockton and Luckie connected for 3 touchdowns against Ole Miss alone last season — and he’s set to lead the way in an otherwise unproven, yet talented TE room.
