According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the nation’s four most powerful teams all reside in the SEC this season.

Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn and Georgia all place ahead of Florida State in the early going based on a variety of factors including team performance.

ESPN’s ‘FPI’ is a ‘measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.’

The SEC also dominates team efficiency ratings:

  • Texas A&M: 36.31
  • Georgia: 32.28
  • Baylor: 31.21
  • Ole Miss: 30.61
  • Auburn: 30.35
