There are plenty of signals that go up every year that indicate college football is almost back, and they come from all sorts of different places and outlets.
Preseason rankings are released, award watchlists and All-American teams are put out, and everybody around the country puts together their final College Football Playoff predictions before all the action officially begins.
Amidst all of the usual fanfare and media hype that goes on during this time of year, though, ESPN also sent out a rather interesting push notification regarding the new head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Eric Morris. This particular push notification had nothing to do with any comment he made or antics that took place during practice, but instead told everyone that the head man in Stillwater shot an armadillo in his front yard.
ESPN typically sends notifications like this in the case of breaking news about a particular team or player. To say this diverges from the norm would be an understatement.
While their new head coach appears to be a sharpshooter, many hope he can take up the mantle left behind by longtime head man and Cowpokes legend Mike Gundy. Morris was brought in from North Texas to take the reins after Gundy was let go after more than 2 decades at the helm in Stillwater.
It remains to be seen whether or not Morris is up to that lofty task, but this showdown on his front lawn has proven he already has the quick draw and dead eye associated with his new team’s mascot.
