We have a kickoff time! SMU at Florida State is set to kick off at 9:15 p.m. ET, per the ESPN broadcast.
Kickoff was supposed to be at 7:30 p.m. ET. However, due to a power outage in the stadium, the game had to be delayed. This isn’t your typical weather delay, as the fans stayed on the field and even got the entire stadium doing the wave.
There had been conversations about what would happen if the game had to be pushed to Tuesday, but that won’t be happening. It won’t be smooth sailing, though, as there will be many electronics not working during the game, including player-to-coach communications and the scoreboard, to name a few.
This is a huge game when it comes to the ACC championship race. SMU is a team that is going to contend in the ACC, with quarterback Kevin Jennings being one of the most dynamic players in the country at that position. For Florida State, the Seminoles are entering a huge year for coach Mike Norvell. He enters the season on the hot-seat, but a win on Monday night would be huge for him moving forward.
It may have taken longer than originally thought, but it now appears that kickoff will be getting underway in just a little while at Doak Campbell Stadium.
