ESPN’s Bill Connelly ranked the remaining undefeated teams in college football, and then went on “College Football Live” to defend how he came to that conclusion.

Connelly said there are 3 tiers of teams: Clemson and TCU in the first tier, then he put Michigan at No. 3 because the Wolverines have played well on both sides of the ball. Tennessee is also in that next tier, and Connelly said the Vols may have the best offense in the country, but the defense is one-dimensional and very good against the run.

“We’ll see if they fade like they did last year,” he said.

As for Georgia at No. 2, he said it’s difficult to poke any holes in what Georgia does, however, the Bulldogs “don’t stretch the field offensively. They get by because they’re so good at everything else.”

About Ohio State, Connelly said, “We don’t know what beats them right now, they’ve been pretty good at basically everything. We’ll find out if Michigan’s recipe from last year works, but right now they look like the best team to me.”

1. Ohio State
2. Georgia
3. Michigan
4. Tennessee
