ESPN’s College GameDay waited until Sunday afternoon to announce its location for Week 9, and it’s the first time the popular pregame show has ever been to this spot.

The show will air from FCS South Dakota State ahead of its game against North Dakota State.

In a video to announce the location, host Rece Davis said there are so many places where interest in the sport runs deep, and it’s important to celebrate that as we’re within days of the 150th anniversary of college football.

“While we love to go to places we return to again and again,” he said, “I don’t know if anything gives me the same type of adrenaline rush like going to a new place.”

He added that, “this is a huge rivalry game and we can’t wait to experience it.”

GameDay has been to North Dakota State, the 7-time defending national champion, but this is the first time to Brookings, South Dakota.

The show typically picks one or two non-Power 5 destinations each year, and it was thought that might be the case since the announcement wasn’t made until Sunday afternoon, as it’s typically announced late Saturday night.
