A top-five showdown that has lost some sizzle in recent days will be the featured game and location for ESPN’s College GameDay next week.
The popular pregame show will be on location for a top five matchup in Clemson at Notre Dame next week even though Clemson star QB Trevor Lawrence is not expected to play, coach Dabo Swinney said. Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, and missed today’s win over Boston College. Swinney said after the game that Lawrence is doing well, but will be unable to play.
“He’s doing great..but obviously there’s protocol in place..and that’s put place to make sure he can return to play safely,” Swinney said.
The Fighting Irish coach reacted to the news as well.
“It’s too bad he’s not playing,” Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. “You want the best players to play, but look, the kid that played today is a 5-star. I know he’s not Trevor Lawrence, but they’re not going to come to South Bend shorthanded.”
