The great debate about Notre Dameโs exclusion from the 2025 College Football Playoff bracket continued throughout Monday, with pundits across the college football landscape lining up to either agree or disagree with the Fighting Irish being left out of the 12-team field.
ESPNโs Dan Orlovsky came down on the Notre Dame side of things, arguing on Mondayโs Get Up show that Alabama should have been passed over by the Fighting Irish for a Playoff spot.
โNotre Dame should have been in over Alabama. I am 100 percent onboard with having Miami in because of that head-to-head point. โฆ Alabama hasnโt played good football in a month,โ Orlovsky said โI said Friday if Alabama gets boat-raced they I would leave them out, and they got boat-raced. They didnโt look good in that game, they didnโt look good against Auburn, they didnโt look good against OU. Shoot, they didnโt look good against LSU like 5 weeks ago.
โNotre Dame, unequivocally, is a team that people can sit there and say โYes, they could win a national title.โ The way Alabama has played, at least in the last 4-5 weeks, is not a team right now that can win a national championship.โ
No. 9 seed Alabama (10-3) plays at No. 8 seed Oklahoma (10-2) in a Playoff first-round game on Dec. 19 (8 pm, ABC/ESPN).
