ESPN’s FPI predicts the outcome of Oklahoma-Michigan showdown

One of the most intriguing college football games on the Week 2 slate will be No. 11 Oklahoma against host Michigan. The Sooners are looking to build momentum from a season-opening 51-0 rout vs. visiting UTEP. Meanwhile, the Wolverines are coming off a controversial 13-12 victory at the Big House vs. Western Michigan.
ESPN’s FPI is predicting Oklahoma to have a 64.5 percent chance to defeat Michigan. In last season’s meeting, Oklahoma beat Michigan 24-13 in Norman. Sooners quarterback John Mateer rushed for 2 touchdowns and had 1 passing score. It was the first matchup between the programs since the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 1976.
Even though Michigan fell out of the AP poll after the narrow win vs. Western Michigan, Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables isn’t taking the Wolverines lightly.
“We’ve put Michigan in a great light like they deserve for a long time, here for the last several months,” Venables said. “This isn’t the first week that we’ve been preparing and talking about Michigan and Georgia and Texas and many other teams that are on our schedule. And so our players hold Michigan in high regard with tremendous respect like they deserve.”
Oklahoma vs. Michigan is slated for a noon ET kickoff and will be televised on FOX.
