ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) has updated its predictions for Week 5. There are many big-time games in the SEC this week, with one pivotal matchup being between Alabama and Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs have been one of the biggest talking points in college football, with quarterback Kamario Taylor being a big reason why. Getting a win against Alabama would take the hype around Mississippi State to a whole different level, but the Football Power Index doesn’t see that happening. It gives Alabama a 74.2% chance to prevail over South Carolina.

Taylor has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football, as he is putting together a spectacular season together. He has thrown for 1,192 yards, 14 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He has the ability to attack opposing defenses down the field, but the Crimson Tide have by far the best secondary that he has faced this year.

Like Taylor, Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell is putting together a spectacular season. He has thrown 1,129 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He has been especially good in his last two games, as he has thrown for at least 320 yards in each of his last two games, with nine total touchdowns.

This is Russell’s second road game, and he will look to get off to a better start in this one. In the game against Kentucky, the Crimson Tide turned the ball over on their first two possessions.

Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m ET, and the game is on ABC.
