ESPN’s FPI has been making predictions all throughout the college football season, and that will continue in Week 4. There are many big time games in the SEC this week, with one pivotal matchup being between South Carolina and Alabama.
For the Gamecocks to get a win at Alabama will be a monumental task, and the Football Power Index doesn’t see that happening. It gives Alabama an 82.2% chance to prevail over South Carolina.
South Carolina losing to Mississippi State put the Gamecocks in a tough spot already in the SEC, and having to go win at Alabama is not an easy thing to do with your season on the line. The Gamecocks were up 16 points in the second quarter against the Bulldogs, but they couldn’t keep the lead.

The Crimson Tide had their own struggles for a while in Week 3 against Florida State, but they were able to turn it on in the second half to get the 50-36 victory.
Last season, these two teams played at South Carolina, and the Gamecocks led for much of the game. However, in a similar fashion to Week 3, the Gamecocks couldn’t hold onto the lead, and the Crimson Tide got the win.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
