ESPN’s Heather Dinich includes 5 SEC teams in updated CFP projection after Week 9
Relative to previous weeks of chaos within the league and what happened around the rest of the country this past Saturday, the SEC enjoyed a fairly quiet Week 9.
No ranked teams from the conference were upset by lower-ranked/unranked foes, and all 5 of the league’s games featured margins of 17+ points.
Thus, the SEC largely held firm in ESPN’s Heather Dinich’s latest College Football Playoff projections, as she featured a quintet of the league’s programs within her Top 12 rankings.
The highest-ranked program from the SEC is Georgia at No. 2, with the Bulldogs being fresh off a dominant win over Florida in Atlanta.
The other one-loss squad in the conference is Kentucky, and the Wildcats slid in at No. 8 after enjoying a bye week with a pivotal game against Tennessee looming.
And UK’s inclusion began a flurry of SEC teams in the rankings, as Texas took up the No. 9 spot following its 24-point victory over Mississippi State, Ole Miss occupied No. 11 after cruising past Auburn and LSU closed the Top 12 in that final spot.
However, it is worth noting that due to CFP tie-ins, the Bayou Bengals would be left out of the actual bracket in this scenario, with Dinich fielding the Group of Six representative (Boise State) instead.
Miami occupies the top overall spot, while Ohio State fell to No. 10 following its loss to USC.
