ESPN’s SP+ gives score predictions for Week 2 games, including Ohio State-Texas

ESPN’s SP+ picks of the week were revealed on Tuesday afternoon for a Week 2 that contains a few juicy matchups involving SEC teams, including, of course, the big one on Saturday night in Austin.
That’s where Arch Manning and Texas will host Ohio State in a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC. It’ll be a rematch of last year’s Week 1 matchup in Columbus, where Ohio State held serve at home and sent the Longhorns spiraling toward a disappointing season.
This time around, Texas has a chance for major payback, in front of its home crowd and in primetime, but the ESPN SP+ predictions don’t see that happening for the Horns. They’ve predicted a 27-25 Buckeyes victory, with Ohio State once again getting the upper hand in what could be one of the games of the year in college football.
There are a few other tasty matchups in Week 2, including the lone all-SEC showdown of the week in Lexington, where Will Stein and Kentucky will host Alabama in another national TV matchup on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET. This will be Stein’s unofficial coming out party as an SEC head coach, but ESPN’s SP+ predictions are saying that the guests from Tuscaloosa will prevail by a somewhat close 28-19 score.
Another big showdown involving an SEC team comes at The Big House, where Michigan is coming off that miracle victory over Western Michigan in Week 1. This Saturday afternoon, it’ll be Oklahoma coming to Ann Arbor for a noon ET kickoff on FOX. ESPN’s SP+ believes the visitor will prevail again, with the Sooners sneaking out of Michigan with a 27-20 victory.
