ESPN’s SP+ predicts final score of Florida-Texas matchup

The Florida Gators kept the Texas Longhorns out of the 2025 College Football Playoff. Their 29-21 victory in Gainesville last season — one of just five Florida wins — knocked Texas from No. 9 in the AP poll to unranked, giving the Longhorns too much ground to make up the rest of the way.

This year, it’s the Gators who fell fast from the AP poll following a pair of losses. Texas, the No. 1 team in the country a week ago, is down to No. 7 after a shocking loss to Oklahoma. Both teams need a win in the worst way for their CFP resumes during their Week 7 contest.

Unfortunately for Florida fans, ESPN’s Bill Connelly’s SP+ sees the Longhorns prevailing by double digits, 35-19.

The projected margin of victory suggests Texas (-10.5 at most college football prediction markets) will cover its spread. Connelly’s metric’s predicted game total (54) is also slightly over Kalshi‘s current line of 52.5 points.

There are many indicators pointing to a Longhorn triumph this weekend. Texas is at home, seeking revenge for last year’s loss and proof that its defeat to the Sooners was an aberration.

Florida’s secondary also seems ripe for Arch Manning, who needs a rebound performance himself, to slice up. But Jon Sumrall’s team is more than capable of winning this game. The Gators and Longhorns kick off at noon ET on Saturday (ABC).
