Week 9 of SEC action is on deck for this Saturday, and one of the biggest matchups in the conference will be the clash between the No. 15 Missouri Tigers and No. 10 Vanderbilt Commodores.

These 2 former SEC East rivals currently find themselves right in the thick of the SEC Championship Game chase, but a loss for either squad here would more than likely knock them out of that conversation heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.

A lot is riding on this top-15 SEC meeting, and ESPN analyst Bill Connelly’s SP+ model is projecting a very tight game up in Nashville between these 2 surging SEC powers.

The SP+ is a predictive model that takes various statistics and historical trends, and uses them to both craft power rankings for ESPN and project the outcomes of any given game from week to week.

When it comes to this pivotal meeting between the Tigers and the Commodores, the SP+ is projecting a Vanderbilt win, but only by the slimmest of margins, with the raw final projected score being 28.3 to 28.1.

Connelly’s model believes these 2 squads are about as evenly matched as possible, and they’ll both be looking to take that next step towards a College Football Playoff berth with a win on Saturday.
