One of the more intriguing games of the early-season slate this year is the matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are slated to meet for just the fourth time ever this Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Bill Connelly’s SP+ recently projected how the pivotal Week 3 face-off will shake out down in Tuscaloosa, and it had the Tide coming out on top of the Badgers in rather dominant fashion.

The SP+ uses a number of key stats and factors from teams to both curate power rankings for ESPN and to project the outcome of various matchups on a week-to-week basis.

When it comes to this weekend’s clash between the Tide and the Badgers, Connelly’s model has Alabama winning the matchup by a final score of 33-16, which is actually under the current Vegas spread.

While Connelly’s projection follows closely with how many other experts and analysts are predicting this game to go, it’s important to remember that the Tide were also massive favorites a couple of weeks ago against Florida State.

As such, nobody really knows how the game will end up going until these two teams tee things up on Saturday afternoon. Alabama may be the more talented team, but they’ll have to play with far more intensity than they did in week 1 if they want to avoid another potentially disastrous upset.
