Ryan Silverfield already experienced a rude introduction to life as an SEC coach when Arkansas was run out of Salt Lake City last Saturday night, and things don’t get any easier for the Razorbacks this weekend.
Silverfield’s first SEC game as head coach in Fayetteville will feature Georgia coming to town, a Bulldogs squad that has eviscerated a pair of inferior opponents and looks all the part of a national-title contender.
Thus, the cards appear to be stacked against Arkansas, and ESPN’s SP+ agrees with that sentiment. Bill Connelly recently released his metric’s weekly picks for Week 3, and SP+ projects that the Dawgs will walk away with a comfortable 41-16 victory.
As mentioned, Kirby Smart‘s team beat Tennessee State and Western Kentucky by a combined margin of 110 points. The Gunner Stockton-led offense has shown great balance, while the UGA defense is tentatively resembling the units of the early 2020s.
Meanwhile, Arkansas followed up an uninspiring 31-14 win over North Alabama in the opener by falling 43-10 at Utah last week, a game that was never truly close and showed why this may be a rough first year for Silverfield.
The Bulldogs and Razorbacks will kick off at noon ET, with the game being broadcast by ABC.
