A week after knocking off Alabama on the road, the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are now set to welcome the Auburn Tigers to Athens for another chapter in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry on Saturday.
These 2 bitter rivals have had very different seasons up to this point, but that doesn’t mean that the hatred between them is any less potent, as both programs always put forth their best effort when it’s time to play one another.
In anticipation of what will be the 131st all-time meeting between these iconic SEC schools, ESPN analyst Bill Connelly dropped his SP+ projection for how the game will end up playing out between the hedges.
For the uninitiated, the SP+ is an advanced statistical model that Connelly created himself that takes a number of different trends, factors, and stats and uses them to project the outcome of any game from week to week.
When it comes to Georgia and Auburn, Connelly’s model is projecting the Dawgs roll against the Tigers, with the final score being 34-15 in favor of the top-ranked team in the country.
If there’s one thing that is for certain, it’s that you can never truly predict what will happen in this game, so it will be interesting to see how things end up shaking out come Saturday.
