LSU QB Joe Burrow’s NFL stock has soared this season, by as much as three or four rounds, according to ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay.
McShay just released his latest mock draft for the 2020 draft, and has Burrow going No. 1 to the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Some people look at him, and I’ve talked to scouts and they say ‘He’s Andy Dalton, that’s all he’s going to be, if you want an average, solid quarterback, fine,'” McShay said on ESPN with Scott Van Pelt. “I see more of Carson Wentz. I see a guy who plays the quarterback position like a linebacker, attacks it. And he also has great presence inside the pocket, and does so many things well.”
McShay admitted that entering this season, he had Burrow rated as a fourth or fifth-round prospect, and a quarterback who would be a backup or game manager type player.
“Now I think he’s the best quarterback in this draft, with Tua Tagovailoa, the injury obviously being the issue there,” McShay said.
McShay’s top five went Burrow, Ohio State DE Chase Young, Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy, Tagovailoa and Oklahoma DB Jeff Okudah.
I expect Joe Burrow to go No. 1 overall. Some scouts have compared him to Andy Dalton, I think of him more as Carson Wentz. pic.twitter.com/ivXoysJH9S
