Indiana quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza spoke with the media ahead of IU’s Rose Bowl matchup with Alabama and called the Tide a “tough team to kill.”

The Crimson Tide are coming in off a 34-24 victory over Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff. After a rough showing in the SEC Championship game, many were ready to see the Tide fall again. However, the Tide rebounded and were able to take down the Sooners, a team they lost to in the regular season, showing their resilience and willingness to stay alive.

“Alabama is a resilient team… Everyone knows Alabama. They’re an SEC juggernaut. They have a great offense, great defense, great coach, and so I’m really looking forward to playing them,” Mendoza said. “I think that Oklahoma game speaks testament on how resilient they are, and they’re a tough team to kill.

While it might be unintended, Oklahoma’s motto throughout the year was “hard to kill.” The Crimson Tide erased a 17-point deficit in Norman to come back and beat the Sooners in the first round of the CFP and have now been labeled as a “tough team to kill” by Mendoza.

We will find out just how tough it is to kill Alabama when they meet Indiana in the Rose Bowl at 4 p.m. EST on New Year’s Day.
