The NFL Flag Championships are taking place, and Saturday brought around a U14 quarterfinal matchup between Jacksonville, FL and Long Island, NY.
The star of that showdown would be receiver Brysen Wright, a member of the Jacksonville team and a budding prospect for the 2028 recruiting class. In fact, he turned heads with a catch that was eerily reminiscent of the iconic catch produced by former LSU star Odell Beckham Jr.
Here’s the insane grab produced by Wright that had the football world talking on Saturday:
That grab was his best of the day, but it was not Wright’s only highlight-reel moment. He was a problem on both sides of the ball and showcased impressive hands throughout.
According to 247 Sports, Wright is a rising sophomore for Mandarin High School in Florida. He recorded 646 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns during his high school season last year, and he’s already racked up an offer sheet that includes Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Colorado, among others. Wright is listed at 6-foot-2.5 and 200 pounds but fans will have to wait a little longer to find out his full star rating when the 2028 composite rankings come out.
In the meantime, Wright’s grab was more than enough to light up social media with the football world still stuck in the dark period of summer before training camps get started. Here’s how fans far and wide reacted to the catch:
