Late Monday night, 4-star defensive end Jeremiah Williams tweeted that he wouldn’t be signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday and would be waiting until February. Although he’s committed to Florida, he wanted to “make sure I’m making the right decision.”
It appears Williams’ reflection time went quicker than he expected.
On Tuesday, Williams announced on Twitter that he will be signing with the Gators, and he’ll be doing so at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, the first day of the three-day early signing period.
Although Williams has been committed to Florida since Oct. 26, Auburn had been trying to flip him. He also held offers from numerous other top programs, but he chose the Gators over Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma and more.
Williams is the No. 5 weak-side defensive end in the 2021 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 73 overall recruit. He currently attends Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Ala.
Florida currently has the No. 7-ranked 2021 class, per the 247Sports team rankings, with 26 commits in its class. The Gators have landed one 5-star recruit and 14 4-star recruits, including Williams.
