Florida announces date of Urban Meyer’s Ring of Honor ceremony

The date has been set for Urban Meyer’s induction into Florida’s Ring of Honor. Meyer will be inducted on Nov. 7 during Florida’s game against Oklahoma, the program announced Monday.
Meyer’s Gators defeated the Sooners in the BCS national championship game for the 2008 season. It was Meyer’s second national title at Florida, having previously won in 2006 over Ohio State.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for the Florida Football Ring of Honor,” Meyer said in a released statement. “My time at Florida holds so many special memories for me and my family. Everything we accomplished was the result of an extraordinary coaching staff who recruited exceptional players and were supported every day by the University, the Athletic Department, and the entire Gator Nation. I want to thank Dr. Bernie Machen and Jeremy Foley for bringing us to Gainesville and for embracing our family and our staff from the very beginning. There is nothing like game day in The Swamp—the energy of 90,000 fans behind you, pushing and willing you to victory.
“The championships were certainly special, but the bonds forged with our players, staff, and countless members of Gator Nation will last a lifetime. I am grateful to have been part of Florida’s storied football tradition, and I want to thank Gator Nation for the passion and pride you continue to bring to this program. Florida unveiled the Ring of Honor in 2006 as part of the football program’s 100-year celebration. Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Jack Youngblood were the original four inductees. Wilber Marshall was inducted in 2007 and Tim Tebow in 2018.
Meyer coached Florida from 2005-10, posting an overall record of 65-15, going 36-12 in SEC play. He guided the Gators to 2 national championships, 2 SEC titles and 6 bowl games, including 3 BCS contests. In 2025, Meyer was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
