Florida has announced that former NFL defensive back Keanu Neal will be the honorary Mr. Two Bits for the Gators’ game against Texas this weekend.

George E. Edmondson Jr., better known as Mr. Two Bits, was an insurance salesman from Tampa, Florida, who was a die-hard Florida football fan. Starting in 1949, he led a traditional “‘Two Bits’ cheer” at the football games. Edmonson was well known to generations of Florida fans.

Florida has lost its last 3 games and will be looking to bounce back in a big way with a win over No. 9 Texas. Neal hopes to bring the energy that launches Florida into a win on Saturday.

I’ll try to get the energy going,” Neal said. “We need some W’s, for sure.

Neal was a safety for the Gators from 2013 to 2015. He was then selected 17th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He spent 4 seasons with the Falcons, where he earned Pro Bowl honors in 2017, before joining the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. He then spent a season with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers before he announced his retirement earlier this year in February.

Kickoff for Florida versus No. 9 Texas is set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in The Swamp.
