Florida kicks off the Jon Sumrall era on September 5 against Florida Atlantic. Sumrall will have on his staff names such as Buster Faulkner, who spent three years as Georgia Tech’s offensive coordinator while helping the Yellow Jackets to some of their best seasons in ages.
Faulkner didn’t come cheap. According to the Gainesville Sun, his salary in 2026 will be $2.1 million. That’s a jump from the $1.25 million he made at Georgia Tech in 2025.

Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Brad White, who was part of the Kentucky staff for eight seasons, has a salary of $1.85 million. White and Sumrall were on Mark Stoops’ staff together in Lexington from 2018 to 2021.
Sumrall and his staff will be tasked with turning the fortunes of a Florida program that went just 22-23 under Billy Napier. The hope is that it will happen sooner rather than later under Sumrall, who has won 43 games in four seasons at Troy and Tulane combined. That included leading Tulane to its first College Football Playoff appearance.
