Florida basketball assistant Taurean Green facing sexual assault allegations
Florida men’s basketball assistant coach Taurean Green is facing sexual assault allegations, according to a report.
ESPN broke that news on Thursday evening. Per the report, a Florida athletic department employee filed a Title IX complaint against Green on Tuesday. Here’s an excerpt from ESPN’s report, which outlines details from the complaint:
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, reported to the school’s Title IX office that in March 2024, assistant men’s basketball coach Taurean Green arranged a meeting with her in the athletic facilities, where he kissed her and tried to put his hand down her pants, according to a copy of the complaint reviewed by ESPN.
She pulled his hand away and said no, and he tried again, at which point she got away, according to the complaint. Until that day, she had never been alone with Green and had only exchanged casual greetings with him on campus, she told ESPN in an interview.
This Title IX complaint comes as Florida men’s basketball head coach Todd Golden is dealing with allegations of his own. Accusations against Golden for sexual harassment and stalking became public in November.
The University of Florida released the following statement to ESPN regarding the allegations against Green:
“The law prohibits us from commenting on the existence or status of investigations. The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and conducts a thorough and deliberate process that ensures due process for everyone.”
In addition to being an assistant coach, Green was a member of Florida’s national championship teams in 2006 and 2007. He’s in his third season with the program and his second campaign as an assistant coach with the Gators.
