Florida picked up a huge recruiting win in the class of 2027 on Monday afternoon.
The Gators landed a commitment from 3-star defensive back target Kamauri Whitfield. An Orlando native, Whitfield is expected to play nickel for the Gators at the next level, according to Gators Online’s Blake Alderman.

Whitfield is currently regraded as a 3-star prospect and is the No. 734 player and the No. 72 cornerback in the nation for the class of 2027, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, his ranking could rise in the coming weeks as more scouts are able to evaluate him. Whitfield has picked up offers from numerous top programs in recent months, including Oregon. He was previously committed to Tennessee but backed off of that pledge in February.
He attends The First Academy in Orlando. He’s listed at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds.
Florida now has 25 total commits in the class of 2027, including 8 from the Sunshine State. The Gators’ class current ranks No. 10 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Early Signing Period for the class of 2027 is slated for December.
