Florida coach Jon Sumrall provides update on injured WR Eric Singleton Jr.

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall revealed exactly where things stand with injured wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. during his session with reporters on Monday.
Singleton, who a lot was expected from at Florida after he transferred from Auburn in the offseason, was injured during Saturday’s season-opening victory over FAU when he was simply trying to give a strong block on the perimeter. He executed the block, but it came at a big cost when he was rolled up on the play and was forced to leave the game with a leg injury.
The Gators will host Campbell in a Week 2 clash on Saturday (5:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network+), and Sumrall just doesn’t know right now if Singleton will be good to go.
“Eric Singleton is highly questionable for this week. (Defensive lineman) Emmanuel (Oyebadejo) is also highly questionable. We won’t know until middle to later in the week what their real availability is,” Sumrall told reporters.
Singleton has done nothing but produce so far in his collegiate career, spending his first 2 years at Georgia Tech before transferring to Auburn in 2025. He’s averaged 54 catches per season and has piled up over 2,000 yards, so Florida knew what it was getting when Singleton was lured to Gainesville for the 2026 season.
Not only was Singleton being added to the UF offense this fall, he was coming to Gainesville to reunite with new Gators offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner after they were together for those 2 seasons at Georgia Tech.
Getting Singleton back in the lineup as quickly as possible will certainly help Florida’s ability to win games this season. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Gators’ potential win total for the 2026 season:
