Florida wants to make its offseason a whole lot better than its nightmare 2025 season, and the Gators could be off and running in that regard.

Georgia Tech transfer quarterback Aaron Philo is expected to pick Florida for his 2026 destination, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer on Sunday night. The CBS Sports report revealed that new UF offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner “thinks highly of” Philo, who would not only be joining Faulkner in his first season in Gainesville but also would be playing under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall.

Faulkner and Philo would also be reuniting for the 2026 season after Faulkner spent the past 3 years at Georgia Tech.

Philo saw limited action this past season playing behind star quarterback Haynes King in Atlanta. He completed 21 of 28 passes for 373 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception, but obviously a move to Florida for the 2026 season would be the fresh start that Philo sorely needs. According to Zenitz and Hummer, Philo is on his way to Gainesville to join a UF program that just lost 2025 starter DJ Lagway to the transfer portal.

According to another report by Hummer in the early hours of Friday, he opted to join Zenitz with an “early Crystal Ball pick in favor of Florida” landing Philo.

Philo is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound native of Bogart, Ga., who would be leaving his home state and the ACC to head a little south to the SEC for the 2026 season.

He’s thrown for 938 yards during his 2-year career and would be following Faulkner from Atlanta to Gainesville, which would be something juicy to watch for Gators fans during the offseason workout programs.
