Florida lineman says Gators have taunting photo from 2023 loss at Mizzou ‘all over’ locker room

The Florida Gators have not played up to their football program’s standards since the end of the 2020 COVID season. Over the previous five seasons, Florida won more than six games just once. The Gators are well on their way to changing that in 2026, and they’re hoping to exact some revenge in the process.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Florida offensive lineman Bryce Lovett revealed the Gators have some bulletin board material for this weekend’s game against the Missouri Tigers. The team has a photo from its 2023 loss to the Tigers plastered on the walls throughout the locker room.

“There’s a picture of Tyreak Sapp sitting on the ground [after the Mizzou game],” Lovett said. “Had that up in the team room today, and it’s all over [the place].”
Sapp, a former Florida defensive lineman, was photographed sitting on the ground while Missouri players taunted him after a 33-31 defeat in 2023. The Gators allowed the then-No. 9 Tigers to convert a 4th-and-17 in the game’s final minute that set up Mizzou’s eventual game-winning field goal.
The Tigers finished the 2023 campaign with an 11-2 record. They capped their season by beating the Ohio State Buckeyes 14-3 in the Cotton Bowl. This year’s Florida team has its sights set even higher than the Cotton Bowl, and a victory over Missouri would help it get there. The Gators and Tigers kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. (ABC) on Saturday afternoon.
