Florida football has reportedly added a pair of non-conference opponents for the 2027 season.
According to FBSchedules.com, the Gators will face off against South Alabama and FCS Charleston Southern for the 2027 campaign. The Gators were originally supposed to face South Alabama during the 2020 season, but the game was not played as college football opted to stick to an all-conference schedule.
A contract obtained by FBSchedules.com read that the Gators and Jaguars will face off on September 4, 2027 – the season opener for both programs. Florida is paying South Alabama $1.2 million for the contest.
The Gators will battle Charleston Southern the week following their matchup against the Jaguars, September 11, 2027. The Buccaneers will claim $500,000 for the game.
Florida now has 3 non-conference opponents scheduled for the 2027 season: South Alabama, Charleston Southern and Florida State to end the regular season. Assuming the SEC doesn’t change to a 9-game conference schedule, the Gators will add one more non-conference matchup in coming months.
Florida football has a lot of hopes heading into the 2025 college football season. The Gators posted one of the most impressive 8-5 records in recent memory last year after facing 6 ranked teams.
