We’re getting closer to the 2026 college football season. Florida reportedly planned out the schedule for fall camp, its first under new head coach Jon Sumrall.

On Sunday, Zach Abolverdi of On3 revealed a few key dates. Gator players report to fall camp on Aug. 4, a media day for Sumrall, as well as select staff members and players. Fall practice will begin the following day, Aug. 5.

Per Abolverdi, Sumrall’s staff has scheduled two scrimmages. The first scrimmage will be held on Aug. 15, with another scrimmage to follow on Aug. 22.

Florida will wrap up camp on Aug. 29. The Gators will then shift into the game-week routine. Florida Atlantic is on the schedule for Sumrall’s coaching debut. UF’s Week 1 game has a 7:45 p.m. ET kickoff in The Swamp.

Sumrall, who recently turned 44, enters the 2026 season with 4 years of head coaching experience. Troy was 23-4 in 2 seasons under Sumrall, winning the Sun Belt in 2022 and ’23. He then posted an 11-3 record at Tulane, winning an American conference championship in 2025, landing the Green Wave a College Football Playoff berth.

Florida is looking to turn things around after a 4-8 season in 2025, during which Billy Napier was dismissed. The Gators have finished with losing records in 4 of the last 5 seasons.
