Florida reveals new renderings for stadium renovation, other details
Florida has announced new details for its upcoming $1.45 billion renovation to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
That new budget was confirmed in a statement by board of trustees chair Mori Hosseini on Thursday morning. The Swamp, which originally opened in 1930, is expected to retain its capacity of 88,000 fans following the renovation.
The University of Florida released a new video detailing the history of Ben Hill Griffin as well as some of its hopes for the future. The video, which includes renderings of the renovation plan, is narrated by ESPN host and Florida alum Laura Rutledge:

Renovations are expected to begin following the 2026 season and are expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2030 college football season. Florida will continue to play home games at The Swamp during construction in 2027, 2028 and 2029.
Per Florida, here’s why the university is moving forward with renovations:
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is approaching its 100th year and requires significant infrastructure improvements to remain the premier venue in college athletics. The project will modernize critical systems, improve accessibility, enhance the fan experience, create new revenue opportunities, and address decades of deferred maintenance while preserving the traditions and atmosphere that make The Swamp unique.
Florida also promises improved fan experiences, including “more accessible concessions, improved restroom access, enhanced wayfinding, better traffic flow throughout the stadium, upgraded technology, and additional gathering spaces.”
UF will open the 2026 season against FAU on Sept. 5.
